The goal of implementing the SEU Editorial Guide is to ensure university-wide consistency and clarity in written communication across all channels.
The overall voice/tone of SEU is welcoming, relatable, and engaging.
Some modifications may be made based on the audience, such as a slightly more formal tone for donors or adding nostalgic references for alumni.
Adjustments may also be made based on the usage of the text (i.e. social media or print piece). However, the core voice/tone remains, with the aim of making SEU feel friendly and approachable — not distant or unreachable.

The mission of Southeastern University is to equip students to discover and develop their divine design to serve Christ and the world through Spirit-empowered life, learning and leadership. We don’t confine that mission to our main campus in Lakeland, Florida, and have established partnerships around the country to reach students where they live and work. These sites extend the Christ-centered culture of SEU and develop leaders who will impact their communities. We also offer students the opportunity to earn their degrees fully online, providing flexibility as well as faculty support. More than 100 degree programs are available at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Since our founding in 1935, our global impact has been marked by a deep commitment to transforming minds and engaging culture through the integration of faith, learning and service. Each student’s divine design is nurtured and unleashed through the investment of faculty and staff, relationships within the community, the rigor of scholarship, diverse learning experiences and the discipline of spiritual formation, which propels students into a lifetime of serving the world in the Spirit of Christ.
