The goal of implementing the SEU Editorial Guide is to ensure university-wide consistency and clarity in written communication across all channels.

  • It provides guidelines on grammar, punctuation, formatting, and writing style, helping to maintain a professional and cohesive brand image.
  • By adhering to the style guide, the university can enhance our credibility, professionalism, and readability in all our written content.
  • When paired with the consistency we are building in our visual identity, the overall brand of SEU will be strengthened and well-suited to the support of all university initiatives.

Voice & Tone

The overall voice/tone of SEU is welcoming, relatable, and engaging.

Some modifications may be made based on the audience, such as a slightly more formal tone for donors or adding nostalgic references for alumni.

 Adjustments may also be made based on the usage of the text (i.e. social media or print piece). However, the core voice/tone remains, with the aim of making SEU feel friendly and approachable — not distant or unreachable.
